O bless the Lord, my soul!-- Psalm 103:1
Mass readings: Isaiah 40:25-31 / Matthew 11:28-30
The path of life is seldom without obstacles. Illness, death, and family problems are realities over which we have very little control. Today's readings speak of the need to place confidence in God who will strengthen us in our need. Isaiah tells the Hebrews that God strengthens the weak and will renew their vigor. Jesus is very clear that those who find life weary or burdensome must trust that God will provide the means to see the difficulty through to resolution.
When adversity strikes it seems we have two options: perseverance or resignation. Actually, however, when adversity strikes us down, the Christian must stand up and keep moving in a positive direction, confident that God will provide all that we need. Let's place our confidence in God; He will bring us home.
Prayer: Father, I place my hope and dreams into Your hands.
