Remember the marvels the Lord has done!-- Psalm 105:5
Mass readings:Wisdom 18:14-16;19:6-9 / Luke 18:1-8
The cheetah is the fastest known land animal, achieving speeds of about 60 miles per hour (more than the speed limit in my country, Sri Lanka!). Its skills and capabilities have earned it the nickname the ''Hunting Leopard.'' Yet, despite its great speed and ability, the cheetah lacks endurance -- if it fails to catch its prey after chasing it for three or four miles, this hunter tamely gives up the chase.
I tend to pray in fits and starts. When I don't see ''results'' I'm easily discouraged; sometimes, I may even give up praying about a particular matter. Through today's parable, Jesus reminds me not to be like that cheetah -- swift and skilful, yet, lacking in endurance. Instead, Jesus invites me to persevere in prayer.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to pray, and help me to keep on praying.
