The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.-- Psalm 126:3
Mass readings: Jeremiah 31:7-9 / Hebrews 5:1-6 / Mark 10:46-52
I find it very easy to play the ''if only'' game. If only I had more money . . . I'd be more generous. If only I had more energy . . . I'd help more people. If only I were smarter . . . I could do my job better. If only this . . . then that.
In today's Gospel Bartimaeus doesn't play that game. Despite being a blind beggar told by the crowd to pipe down, he keeps calling on Jesus. Keeps believing that not only will Jesus hear him but will heal him. Jesus points out his faith has saved him. Yes, he had faith in Jesus. But he also had faith in himself, believing what God had given him was enough for him to do what he was supposed to do.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me faithfully use the many gifts You've given me.
