Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope.-- Psalm 16:1
Mass readings: Acts 2:14,22-33 / Matthew 28:8-15
After a political speech, ''spin doctors'' often pop up to say what it really meant. They can sometimes twist the words until their ''real meaning'' is just the opposite of their plain meaning.
In today's Gospel, we find some early spin doctors, trying to turn the story of the resurrection into an act of trickery by disciples who allegedly stole Christ's body. Peter tells it in the first reading as a life-changing story. Do we hear it in that way, as an invitation to change our lives, to die to ourselves and come alive in Christ? Or do we act as our own spin doctors, altering its meaning so that it doesn't bother our complacency? This year, let's truly hear the story and enter into the death and resurrection of Christ.
Prayer: Open my ears, Lord, to hear Your good news.
