Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.-- Exodus 15:1
Mass readings: Exodus 14:21--15:1 / Matthew 12:46-50
Many years after it began, a local family bakery is still thriving. The couple who started it retired, but their children and grandchildren carry the torch, offering the community the best baked goods imaginable. It's comforting to sit there with a cup of coffee, smell the enticing aromas, and watch the family working together like a well-oiled machine.
In today's Gospel, Jesus said, ''Whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.'' When Mary said ''yes,'' to the Father, Jesus came from Him through Our Lady to us. When we say ''yes'' to God, we join ranks in the heavenly family business, working together for a common goal: to bring Jesus, the Bread of Life, to the world. We carry on a tradition that's 2,000 years and counting.
Prayer: Lord, I accept Your will and roll up my sleeves for whatever work lies ahead.
