The just will gaze on your face, O Lord.--Psalm 11:(see 7)
Mass readings: Mass in the Morning: Acts 28:16-20,30-31 / John 21:20-25
Today's Gospel gives us a taste of the ordinary questions that preoccupied the apostles. This is the final moment with Jesus recorded by John. Peter has just been asked three times by the Master, ''Do you love me?'' Yet the question troubling Peter's mind is, ''What about him?'' -- will John remain alive until Jesus' return?
It's easy to get distracted! But by instituting the Eucharist with the command to celebrate it until He returns, Jesus left us an unparalleled gift that alleviates the inevitable confusions of our journey. Amid my human struggles and distractions, the Eucharist centers me. It's a daily healing service. Dominican Father Peter John Cameron explains it this way: Jesus is saying, ''It is the communion of love I live with my Father that I want to impart to you.''
Prayer: You are the Living Bread, my Lord and my God.
