Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.-- Psalm 68:33
Mass readings: Acts 19:1-8 / John 16:29-33
Every night when my children were young I would sit by Michelle and sing her favorite bedtime song: ''I don't have to be afraid in the night or in the day. When I sleep my God's awake, He's watching over me.'' The same calm assurance that I witnessed on Michelle's face, I hear in Jesus' words today, ''I am not alone, because the Father is with me.''
What confidence! Imagine what my life would be like if I acted with this certainty. I would not fear what may be. I could be assured in my decisions and my actions because I am not making them alone. It isn't all up to me. Imagine if I would trust that no matter what happens today it will be OK because God, my Father, is with me.
Prayer: Take Lord, receive, all I am and want to be.
