Ask and Receive

Sometimes I get so caught up in my own head evaluating how to respond to a situation or a person! I become like an out-of-rhythm drum in the symphony playing out before me. While immersed recently in one of these ''musical pieces'' regarding my brother, a good friend simply suggested, ''Why don't you tell him what you need?'' I did, and he freely and generously responded.

In today's Gospel, Jesus says, ''Whatever you ask the Father in my name He will give you. . . . Ask and you will receive.'' This isn't about getting everything I ask for. It's about having a relationship with God intimate enough so that I'll humbly and genuinely tell Him what I need, and to trust His reply.

Prayer: I trust You, God, with my needs and my wants.
