May 6, Wednesday Easter Weekday

O God, let all the nations praise you!--Psalm 67:4

Mass readings: Acts 12:24-13:5 / John 12:44-50

My Salvation

A group called The Newsboys has a song titled ''Real Good Thing'' that boldly states: ''When we don't get what we deserve, that's a real good thing. When we get what we don't deserve, that's a real good thing.'' Once I begin questioning why something happens to me, or dwelling on its fairness, I recognize that I'm operating under the fallacy that I can somehow secure the goodness that comes my way.

It's a ''real good thing'' that this is bogus. Jesus said in today's Gospel that He came not to condemn the world, but to save it. Believing this truth means trusting my Savior with whatever happens today. He who ''came into the world as light'' faithfully shows me the way to the Father -- trusting His will always involves my salvation.

Prayer: You loved me first, O God! Thank You.
