Spiritual Family

Today the Church celebrates the feast of Sts. Timothy and Titus, both young Christians who assisted St. Paul in spreading the Good News. He wrote to each of these young men separately, to encourage and instruct them in their work with fledgling Christian communities. In those messages, Paul calls each of them his ''child'' in faith. They were like sons to him.

I'm reminded of several women in my life. Each shared her spiritual journey with me and encouraged me to share mine with others. I feel as close to these friends as I do to my own family. On this feast day of Timothy and Titus, let's think about those who have encouraged us on our journey and consider those we can encourage now.

Prayer: Sts. Timothy and Titus, may we follow your example in sharing our spiritual gifts.
