The Lord will remember his covenant forever.--Psalm 111:5
Mass readings: Hebrews 6:10-20 / Mark 2:23-28
Today's first reading tells us that ''after patient waiting, Abraham obtained the promise.'' Scripture scholars point out he was already an old man when God first promised to bless him with many descendants and it was some decades later that God's promise was fulfilled. (Yes, during that time Abraham continued to hope but he also tried to ''help God along'' by fathering a child by his wife's slave girl. Not a good idea. Trying to rush God doesn't work.)
For years, I tried unsuccessfully to be a writer. Luckily, I found another career. Recently unemployed, I used the extra time to try writing again and, apparently, this is God's time for me to write. Unlike years ago, some of the articles I've submitted are being published. Why the long delay? Maybe God knew I wasn't ready.
Prayer: God of Wisdom and Love, may I trust in Your perfect timing.
