Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.--Psalm 72:(see 11)
Mass readings: 1 John 4:7-10 / Mark 6:34-44
As we read about Jesus feeding the 5,000, we're told first that Our Lord was filled with pity for those ''lost sheep'' and that ''He began to teach them many things.'' When I feel lost, I often seek relief by jumping into frantic activity. Listening to God in silence doesn't seem practical. I'm sure many in that crowd had other things that needed attention, but they made time to put themselves in Jesus' presence. They didn't come to be fed but to listen to Him. Even so, Jesus made sure their other needs were met, as well.
Is anything on my agenda really more important than listening to what God wants to tell me? I need to remember there's enough time to do whatever He has in mind for me to do today.
Prayer: Bread of Life, nourish our minds and hearts.
