Teach me your ways, O Lord.-- Psalm 25:4
Mass readings: Numbers 24:2-7,15-17 / Matthew 21:23-27
Today's readings urge us to be honest with ourselves and with God. In Numbers, Balaam the seer attempts to curse Israel four times, but on each occasion his words turn into a blessing for Israel. This incident symbolizes God's providential care for His people who trust in Him.
The section from Matthew challenges us to be authentic in our own following of Jesus. The chief priests and the elders who questioned the authority of Jesus failed to see the promptings and revelation of God in Jesus Christ, and were overprotective of their authority. When we're overprotective of our position and status, we often behave like them. As we await the birth of Jesus, may God help us to be honest in our pursuit of His message and the propagation of His kingdom.
Prayer: Jesus, help me to follow You genuinely.
