You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.--Isaiah 12:(see 13)
Mass readings: Ephesians 3:2-12 / Luke 12:39-48
Christianity is both a great privilege and a responsibility. Paul's says we, the Gentiles, have received the great privilege to be inheritors of God's message and we share in the promises of the Gospel. We have the word of God, the sacraments, and the community of faith. We can call upon the Church at any time.
But all of these great privileges incur significant responsibilities. Jesus says that more is expected of those given much. We, the baptized, have been given a lot and so we have the obligation to give back, to be responsible to others for all we have received. Put another way, God trusts us so much He allows us to play a role in when and how He gives to others. We are His instruments.
Prayer: Lord, may I always be mindful of both the privilege and responsibility of discipleship.
