I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.--Psalm 23:6

Accepting the Invitation

Invitations come in many forms and varied times in life. Through God's gift of free will, we can accept or reject them. In fact, we must make a decision each time an invitation comes. When one arrives from someone we know or love, or if the opportunity benefits us, it's easy to say ''yes.''

Today we hear about God's invitation. Isaiah speaks of how the Lord provides what we need and Jesus describes how we've been invited to enjoy these things at the great banquet. Unfortunately, too often we say no to God's invitation. Why? It may be we're too busy with our own concerns or needs to accept the call to God's kingdom. At times we need to simplify our lives sufficiently to enter the banquet, our goal of eternal life.

Prayer: Jesus, help me to accept Your invitations with an open heart.
