All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.--Psalm 98:3
Mass readings: 1 John 3:7-10 / John 1:35-42
When my kids discover something exciting, the first thing they usually do is to yell, ''Mum, come and see!'' Even adults, although not quite so uninhibited as kids, yearn to share special moments with the special people in their lives.
In today's Gospel, Andrew, sensing that Jesus is special, immediately thinks of his brother. He brings Simon to Jesus; and this encounter sparks a revolution in Simon's life -- from simple Simon, he will go on to become Cephas, the Rock.
''Witnessing'' need not be solemn or scary. Often, all we have to do is simply share with someone how Jesus has touched our lives and invite them to ''come and see'' or come and encounter Jesus for themselves. It's simple, but it's not simplistic, because when Jesus touches hearts, lives are transformed.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, bless me with boldness as I invite others to ''come and see'' Jesus.
