My Daily Visitor Home
Several weeks ago, one of my closest friends unleashed a violent string of criticism about my behavior. The vitriolic words and accusations really rattled me. Struggling to understand, I asked God what lessons were to be learned from the searing pain.
One can be found in today's Gospel: ''If anyone comes to me without turning his back. . . .'' Jesus doesn't ask us to forsake friendships and marriages and parenthood. He does demand, however, that no relationship obstruct our growth in Him. Even when my feelings were crushed, I had to keep my focus on the Lord of all life, trusting that, in His own time, all shall be well.
Powerful Redeemer, thank You for helping us release
our grip on feelings that can keep us from You.
