My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? — Psalm 22:2
Mass Readings: Luke 19:28-40/Isaiah 50:4-7/Philippians 2:6-11/Luke 22:14–23:56
The disciples in today’s first reading are charged with securing a colt for Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Upon locating the animal, they simply tell its owners that “The Master has need of it” and, somehow, this explanation is enough. The owners are willing to give whatever they have to the Master . . . and at that time, a beast of burden was probably the best of what they had.
Are we willing to giving our best to the Master? Do we give Him the first portion of our finances, or the amount that’s left over? Do we say a quick prayer when we want something, or do we invest significant time in our prayer life? In giving us Jesus, God gave us the best of what He had. Are we willing to do the same?
Prayer: Master, today I want to give You my best.
