Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life. — Psalm 19 (cf John 6:63c)
Mass Readings: Nehemiah 8:2-4a,5-6,8-10/1Corinthians 12:12-30 or 12:12-14,27/Luke 1:1-4;4:14-21
People tend to compartmentalize things. Work, family, exercise, chores, faith — each “task” is often seen as an island unto itself. But what if the boundaries were more fluid? Would we be more complete if we could learn to weave together the seemingly disparate parts of our lives?
In today’s second reading, Paul reminds us that although we have many parts, we are one body in Christ. Although Paul is referring to our family of faith, we can bring that idea down to an individual level. God wants all of me, not just the part that goes to Mass on Sunday but the part that tucks a child in each night, the part that struggles to meet work deadlines, the part that jogs breathlessly through neighborhood streets before dawn. Can I give it all to Him?
Prayer: Dear God, today I offer You all that I do, all that I am.
