If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. — Psalm 95:8
Mass Readings: Hebrews 3:7-14/Mark 1:40-45
“Always have God before your eyes.” That was the advice of St. Anthony of the Desert, whose feast we celebrate today, when someone asked him what he must do to please God.
Most of us are not called to withdraw from the world and live a life of solitude, fasting, and manual labor, as Anthony did, but we are called to cut the ties that bind us to the earthly things that pull us in so many directions on a day-to-day basis. Can we take a page from Anthony’s book and view all of life through a spiritual prism? Can we recognize God at the center of even the most mundane moments? When we learn to see as Anthony saw, we’ll find an interior peace the exterior world can’t shake.
Prayer: St. Anthony, help me to view my life through the lens of faith.
