All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God. — Psalm 98:3cd
Mass Readings: 1 John 2:29 —3:6/John 1:29-34
In today’s reading from the First Letter of John, we’re reminded of our status as “children of God,” beloved by our Creator. It’s something we hear so often but rarely take to heart, relegating the term, the reality, to some been-there-done-that category. Stop for a moment and contemplate the awesomeness of being God’s child. You are beloved just as you are right this very minute!
Father Henri Nouwen wrote, “When you discover your belovedness by God, you see the belovedness of other people and call that forth. It’s an incredible mystery of God’s love that the more you know how deeply you are loved, the more you will see how deeply your sisters and your brothers in the human family are loved.” What does it mean to you to be a child of God?
Prayer: Abba, Father, thank You for claiming me as Your own today, tomorrow, and always.
