How do you take stock of a year?
It is easy to note the “big” events that occurred — natural disasters, elections, uprisings, huge gatherings of the faithful. But there are also many “small” moments that make up the year, many of which don’t reach the major news outlets, yet are important in their own quiet ways.
To capture those events, I asked Catholic photographers Jeffrey Bruno, Karen Callaway, Sam Lucero and Tom Tracy to share with readers the most poignant image of the thousands of photographs they took last year. It’s interesting to note all chose intimate moments, rather than big news events. OSV Designer Lindsey Riesen and I selected some, too.
