Witness to Christ: A new pamphlet from Our Sunday Visitor

Witness to ChristPope Benedict, during his April 2008 visit, has given U.S. Catholics a powerful message of hope and renewal.

Our Sunday Visitor’s latest pamphlet, Witness to Christ, written by our publisher Greg Erlandson, summarizes the Pope's message in an inspiring call to action for American Catholics!

Use the pamphlet to help your parishioners better understand the Holy Father’s encouraging words, to challenge them to reflect on what his message means for their daily lives, and to give specific direction for where to go from here.

Pope Benedict calls on all of us make Christ the center of our lives and to know, love, and live our faith more fully. It is a message that is relevant for your youth groups and young adults, your families and singles, your catechists and the families they teach.

Distribute the pamphlet in the bulletin or through the mail as you reinforce key messages from the pulpit. Use the pamphlet and discussion questions in classrooms, small Christian communities, youth group meetings, and any adult faith formation meetings. Galvanize parish ministries, catechists, men’s groups, parent associations, etc. to make the most of their role of living and passing on the Faith.

Pope Benedict himself has been a powerful Witness to Christ in his words and actions.  Let this pamphlet guide your parishioners down a similar path.

"For six days, Pope Benedict XVI transfixed our nation, filling Catholics with a sense of pride in our past and hope in our future as he encouraged us, by word and examples, to be witnesses to Christ, as our Hope in our daily lifes.

"The Pope had two clear goals for his visit: To "be a source of renewal and hope for the Church in the United States," and to "strengthen the resolve of Catholics to contribute ever more responsibly to the life of this nation."

"Now, it is our responsibility as Catholics to put his words into action -- to follow his path to a deeper and more committed life of faith. Here are the six action steps drawn from his visit that will enable us to contribute to the renewal of our Church and our nation." -- from the pamphlet
