Much has already been said in the secular media along predictable story lines. But it does the pope injustice to already be squeezing his trip into the paradigms of "crackdown," or "liberal vs. conservative" or "out of touch."

One thing that Pope Benedict has shown himself to be is a teacher who speaks and writes in accessible language. Let's start by listening to him. We'll try to provide you with the context.
