Green light for "green" acts

In March, the month of St. Patrick's Day and the wearin' o' the green, participate in these green activities:

Earthhour.org encourages turning off lights for one hour one night to "vote" in favor of the Earth remaining habitable. In 2009, an estimated 80 million Americans reported turning off their lights; and globally nearly 1 billion people participated, according to the initiative's sponsor, World Wildlife Fun.

Worldwaterweek.org focuses on the world's water issues by conducting an annual conference in Stockholm, Sweden, convened since 1991. A host of events happen throughout the year, but there's no time like the present to conserve water.

Cumulatively, we can make the world a better -- and more sustainable -- place.
