Helping kids understand Haiti

The tragedy in Haiti has affected us all. We have a list of how to help charitably. To help kids (and others) make sense of the Haitian earthquake, OSV Newsweekly has an article by Dr. Joseph D. White, a licensed psychologist and director of Family Counseling and Family Life Office for the Diocese of Austin, and OSV author. Read "Help kids (and others) make sense of tragedy" here»

Prayer

Prayer for Haiti

Mother of Perpetual Help, you have been
blessed and favored by God. We come to
you today as your loving children. Watch
over the Haitian people who invoke you
as their patroness and take care of them
in their need in the aftermath of the
earthquake. As you held the child Jesus
in your loving arms, so take them in your
arms. In time of trial, may your children
never fail to call out to you. Intercede for
your beloved Haitian people, dear Mother.
May they, and we, obtain pardon for our
sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and
the grace always to call upon you, Mother
of Perpetual Help. Amen.

(From the Prayer Card for Haiti. See a sample of the prayer card here» Prayer adapted by Bishop Thomas Wenski of Orlando, FL, from a traditional prayer.)
