Using posterboard or any type of large paper, paint a large blue square in the upper left-hand corner of the paper. Allow to dry. Using the children’s hands, dip each in red paint and line handprints up next to one another to make the red stripes on the flag. Dip thumbprints in white paint for the stars.
Discuss the definition of a country and who makes up a country. Discuss responsibilities, obligations and what can happen is no one takes responsibility or recognizes obligations.
