Feature Article December 2007

Jesus reveals who He is slowly. He says:

  • I am the light… (John 8:12)
  • I am the way… (John 14:6)
  • I am the truth … (John 14:6)
  • I am the living bread… (John 6:51)
  • I am the door… (John 10:9)
  • I am the good shepherd… (John 10:11)
  • I am the true vine… (John 15:1)

Take each of these metaphors and spend some time during Advent with each.

What is Jesus saying by comparing himself to light, the way, truth, living bread…?

What did this mean to the people of Jesus’ time?

What does it mean to me? What does Jesus want it to mean to me?

In what way can I show Jesus how much His being light, the way, truth, the door … means to me?

In what ways can I depend on Jesus being the light, the way, the door…?
