Our Sunday Visitor

Activity Two January 2007

Have your students of any age make paper hands like those described on p. 6 of Beth McNamara’s Big Book of Ideas for Children’s Faith Formation. Direct each student (and yourself) to put the one gift of the Spirit he/she feels he/she has been gifted with on one side of the hand. On the other side, direct students to either write a prayer asking for another gift that they feel they need most at this time in their lives or simply to write the name of that gift. String the hands along a wall in a room or hallway or have students keep their “hands” in their bibles or religion textbooks. Remind them to pray often for their gifts.

You will need:
String or ribbon
Construction paper

To do:
Cut a string or ribbon as long as you would like the garland to
be and display at the child’s level.  Make hand cutouts to hang
on the string as shown in the diagram.
