November 2006 Discussion Questions

Adults

“Patina” is the soft, warm glow silver takes on as it’s used. What other things do you have that grow more beautiful with use?

Friendships used/exercised/cultivated grow deeper and more valuable. Who are your oldest and deepest friends? What qualities make these friends so special?

Some of our spiritual gifts go undiscovered and totally unacknowledged. What spiritual gifts are yours to share? Seek out a gifts discernment workshop to help discover and cultivate your special gifts!

This month’s parable is about saving something beautiful to use on special occasions versus making ordinary occasions special by using something beautiful. What do you have that you have tucked away and never used? Why are you saving it? Which makes you happier – knowing you have a thing or using it?

Sometimes people describe someone as being “like an old shoe,” meaning the friendship is “comfortable” or “broken in.” Who do you know that fits that description? What make the relationship so easy?

What gifts and talents do you have that you seldom use? Why do you not use them?

Children

An old song says, “Make new friends, but keep the old… One is silver and the other gold.” What do you think it means? Who has been your friend for the longest time? Why is that person so special to you?

Who is your best friend? Who is your newest friend? Name one friend you haven’t seen for a long time.

Friends are a gift from God. For which friends are you most grateful this Thanksgiving? To whom are you a good friend?
