Stewardship Tip January 2008

Ten New Year’s Resolutions for Good Stewards

1. Give thanks every day for at least three gifts of God – different things every day for a week.  Then do it again!

2 Exercise good stewardship of the faith – invite someone to Mass or another parish function this month.

3. Ask a member of the RCIA team at your parish for the name of a candidate or catechumen and pray for that person until he or she receives the sacraments at Easter.

4. Is there perpetual adoration at your parish or at one nearby?  Call the coordinator and offer to substitute at least one hour a month – every month – and at some awkward, hard-to-fill time, if you can!

5. Figure up your total giving for 2007 and resolve to give more generously this year to at least one of the charities you support.

6. Buy an extra can of soup or beans or a pound of rice each week when you grocery shop and drop them off at the food pantry every few weeks.

7. Put the loose change from your pocket or purse into a jar every evening and give it all to St. Vincent de Paul – or the food pantry – once a month.  They can do a lot with a little!

8. Gather up last month’s magazines and take them to the hospital waiting room or a local nursing home.  Chances are they’ll be far newer than the ones already there!

9. Offer to run an errand, make a call, or write a note for an elderly neighbor or friend.

10. Mend a quarrel, do a kindness, pray for peace…
