Adults

Sister Patricia advocates “living more lightly,” taking special care to use resources wisely.  In what ways are you taking good care of the earth?  What more could you do?

Good stewards know their strengths and consciously use their gifts to “love and serve the Lord and one another.”  In what ways are you a good steward of your gifts?

In the “Canticle of Creatures,” St. Francis praises God for the wonders of the natural world.  For which gifts of God are you most grateful?

Teens

This month’s “modern disciple” is passionate about ecology and uses her training as a lawyer to help craft new laws that protect the earth.  What are you passionate about?  What particular talents do you have that you could use to advance the causes you care most about?

“Each person makes a difference,” Sister Patricia says.  How are you being a good steward of the earth and its resources?

The Church teaches respect for human life from conception to natural death.  What does that mean, in a practical, day-to-day way, to you?

Children

In what ways does your school or your scout group help “take care of the earth”?  Why is that important?

October begins with a celebration of our guardian angels.  How are angels and saints alike?  How are they different?

The last day of this month is Halloween – an old English word that means “the eve of All Hallows” or the night before All Saints Day, which is November 1st.  How does your family celebrate Halloween?  Ask one of the grown-ups in your life the meaning of your family’s traditions.
