Discussion Questions May 2008

Adults

Wired!  Does technology connect or divide your family?  How?

Is it possible to exist in both worlds, wired and “unplugged,” simultaneously – one thing at one time, the other at another?  How does that work for you personally?

The first young man in this month’s parable was “addicted” to technology?  Is there anything you are “addicted” to – something you’re so focused on that you’ve blocked out almost everything else?

Teens

Think of all the technological devices you use in a day.  Which of them could you get along without most easily?  Why?  Which ones would be hardest to give up?  Why?

To what are you “wired”?  Is there something that takes up most of your time and energy?  Is it a good thing or a harmful thing in your life?

It’s May.  Friends are talking about graduating and going off to college ¬ or perhaps to a technical school or the military or to work.  What gifts have those friends brought into your life?  How will you be a good steward of those friendships?

Children

When you have free time – no homework, no soccer practice, no scout meetings or music or karate lessons – what do you like to do?

Do you like to spend your free time by yourself or with other people?  Why?

Do you and your friends have computers, cell phones, or video games that you are allowed to use?  How can these be good things for you to have or to use?  In what ways could they be misused or harmful to you?
