Discussion Questions March 2009

Adults

Lent asks us to stop – and examine our lives to see how closely they reflect the Gospel values we profess.  How are you doing?

The whole month of March is part of the journey from “ashes to Easter.”  What gifts and graces have you discovered so far in this season of Lent?

As the earth “greens up” with the coming of spring, consider ways you could improve your stewardship of the earth at home, at your workplace, and/or at your parish.  Share at least one of those ideas with a friend or colleague and plan to put it into practice before Easter, if you can.

Teens

How do you see Lent?  As a time for “giving up” or as a time for growing closer to the Lord – or both?

Take on a healthy new habit or break a bad one…  Listen!  To what is the Lord calling you this Lent?

What one thing could you do personally that would make you a better steward of the earth, a better caretaker of the environment?

Children

As Catholics, we don’t eat meat on the Fridays of Lent.  Why is that?  Ask your favorite grown-up if you don’t know!

Have you “given up” anything else for Lent?  What?  Why?

March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day; March 19th is St. Joseph’s Day.  Which of the two is your favorite?  Why?
