Discussion Questions July 2008

Adults

This month’s “modern disciple” is passionate about nonviolence.  What are you passionate about?  How are you a good steward of those God-given deep feelings?

It’s summertime.  What will you do to set apart and celebrate this season of grace and refreshment?

As the political parties meet and choose their candidates this summer, there is danger that the discourse will become more and more divisive until the election in November – and possibly even afterwards.  What can or should a good steward do to help encourage a more cordial atmosphere that respects each person’s dignity?

Teens

What “big issue” captures your interest and enthusiasm?  What are you willing to give or to do to get others to support your cause?

What are you planning to do for yourself this summer?  For others?  For God?

4th of July celebrates our nation’s independence and freedom.  For what freedoms are you most grateful?

Children

This month’s newsletter reminds us that every penny has the words, “In God we trust.”   In what ways do you trust God?

What are your plans for this summer?  What will you be doing that will be different from the things you do during the normal school year?

How will your family celebrate the 4th of July?  Here’s an idea…  Ask all the adults you meet that day what they are most grateful for.  See how many of them say “freedom” or “that we live in a free country.”
