Freedom isn’t free.” The 4th of July provides an opportunity to reflect on the costs of civil and religious freedom – both individually and as a nation. What has freedom cost us? How can we be good stewards of the legacy of freedom?

Freedom from and freedom to are two very different things. What are you most grateful to be free from? What does your life situation make you free to do or to be?
We often see on a bumper sticker, “If you love something, set it free.” What does that mean? How are freedom and love related to each other?
If you don’t RSVP to a party -– to stay free to accept a better offer or to be able to “go with the flow” –- your action limits the ability of the party giver to plan for the right number of guests. Can you think of other examples when the freedom of one person actually limits or restricts the freedom of another?
