Discussion Questions January 2009

Adults

Ask yourself St. Paul’s two basic questions:

  • How did your initial encounter with Christ occur?
  • Of what does that relationship consist?

Or more simply:

  • How is it that you are a Christian?
  • What does it mean to you to be “in relationship with Christ”?
  • What does it mean to be “mystically identified with Christ”?

Teen

  • When and how did you become a Christian?
  • An old question asks, “If being a Christian were a crime, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”  Could anyone tell by watching and listening to you that you believe in Christ?  How?
  • “Christian life also has an element that we might describe as mystical,” the article s focuays.  What does that mean to you?  How can a relationship be mystical?

Children

  • St. Paul is sometimes called the first missionary.  What is a missionary?  Have you ever met one?  Have you ever been one?
  • St. Paul traveled a lot, telling the people he met all about Jesus.  What would you tell someone who asked you about Jesus?  What about Jesus is most important to you?
  • St Paul lived almost 2,000 years ago, but we still have some of his letters and we read parts of them at Mass on Sundays.  When was the last time you wrote a letter? Who was it to?  Does anyone send you letters?  Who?
