January 2006 Discussion Questions

Adults

Have you ever felt as driven and stressed as the woman in the parable this month?  What did you do about it?

A wise servant of God once said that he made it a priority to pray for an hour a day.  And when his schedule was too busy to do that, he prayed for two hours, instead!  Reflect on the relevance of that for your life.

What impact does a “snow day” have on your life and work?  How do the children in your life or in your neighborhood react to the news that a “snow day” has been declared?

Teens

What do you do when deadlines crowd in on you and make you crazy?  How do you make some space for yourself?

We feel good about ourselves when we accomplish things.  And sometimes people scold us for “wasting time.”  When is “wasted time” not really wasted?

God created us as ‘human beings,’ not ‘human doings.’  That might be the theme of this month’s parable.  What does it mean to you?

Children

How do you feel when school is cancelled for a “snow day”?  What do the grow-ups in your life do when that happens?  How do you think they feel?

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions?  It’s not too late!  What little acts of kindness could you do to make life more pleasant for the people you know – your parents, your school friends, your teachers?
