February 2006 Discussion Questions

Adults

What lesson in love and kindness, compassion and forgiveness did the little girl learn?  And the boy?  How were the “lessons” different?  Why?

“There’s no use crying over spilled milk,” the proverb says…  Another way of saying the same thing might be “What’s done is done.”  This parable suggests that good stewardship involves maintaining a positive attitude and making the best of what is.  When have you demonstrated this kind of stewardship?

One of the quotes in this issue says, “What you are in love with…will affect everything.”  To what or to whom have you given yourself in love?  What effect has that love had in your life?

Teens

The little girl’s spill was an accident; the older boy thought he could get the same care and attention if he “spilled” his milk, too.  Why didn’t it come out the way he planned?

When did you last have an accident?  How serious was it?  How did the people around you react?  What does this have to do with stewardship?

One of the quotes in this issue says, “What you are in love with…will affect everything.”  Who or what are you in love with?  What difference does it make in your life?

Children

When was the last time you spilled something?  What did the people around you do or say?

Why do you think the people in the lunchroom were angry with the boy, but not with the little girl?

A great saint said, “You can never love your neighbor too much.”  Who is your neighbor?  What are some ways you can show that you “love your neighbor”?
