Discussion Questions August 2009

Adults

“Faith without works is dead,” Scripture says.  What “works” does your faith result in?  What acts of love does your faith in a God of love inspire?

What is your favorite devotion or prayer form?  Why?  Why not add something new for the rest of the summer – a different way of prayer or Scripture study or an intentional outreach activity?  Don’t wait ‘til Lent to make a positive change in your prayer life!

This month’s newsletter reminds us that “Stewardship requires a lifelong process of study, prayer, reflection, and action.”  Where are you along the road to stewardship?  Are you farther along that road than you were at this same point last year?

Teens

Which is more important in your faith life – worship or action?  Is it possible to have one without the other?

What are you doing this summer to change your routine in a positive way?  Consider trying something new for the rest of the summer to renew and refresh your mind, body, and spirit!

What will you do to help someone else this summer?  Lots of time left to make a difference to someone less fortunate before school starts up again in the fall!

Children

Are your religious education classes over for the summer?  Are you signed up for Vacation Bible School?  Be sure you don’t take a vacation from God this summer!

The summer is about half over…  Plenty of time left to make a new friend, learn a new game, read a really big book, or write a letter to someone far away before school starts again.  You’ll be glad you did!

Name the person you admire most.  What is it about that person that makes him or her so special?  Would you like to be more like him or her?  In what ways?
