Discussion Questions April 2009

Adults

This month’s modern disciple has one spectacular talent that he uses intentionally for the Lord. Do you know anyone with such an amazing gift? What does that person do with that talent? Is that use good stewardship, too? Why or why not?

Mr. Sandoval clearly has a deep and personal relationship with God which directs his use of his talents. When and how were you “called into discipleship” by the Lord?

Stewardship is more than what we do at or for the church. Where and with whom else do you share your time and talent? That’s good stewardship, too!

Teens

Mr. Sandoval is called a “modern disciple” in this month’s newsletter. Who do you know who seems to be a disciple of Jesus? What makes you see that person in that light.

When and how do you volunteer your time? How does it reflect your talents? How does it make you feel?

How was Lent for you this year? Will what you gave up (or took on) make a lasting difference in how you live day-to-day, or will everything “go back to normal” after Easter?

Children

A disciple is someone who wants to follow Jesus. Who do you know who is a disciple? Are you a disciple?

In the story, Mr. Sandoval has one very impressive talent – wood-carving. What do you think is your best talent? How are you using it?

Earth Day is April 19th. What can you do to be a good steward of the earth this spring? Is it something you could do together with your friends or your classmates? Find a parent or a teacher to share your ideas with.
