Discussion Questions April 2008

Adults

Sometimes the challenges of environmental stewardship seem too large to be affected by our individual efforts.  What small step can you take?  How would it make a difference?

Occasionally, the discussion of ecological issues – “carbon footprints” and “global warming,” etc. – can become heated and potentially divisive.  But good will and unity are also gifts to be cultivated and encouraged in a parish.  What should good stewards do when cherished values collide?

Stewardship and evangelization go hand in hand.  What efforts is your parish making to re-evangelize parishioners who come only at Christmas and Easter?  What can you do personally to invite someone to greater participation during the fifty days of the Easter season?

Teens

In what ways are you and your friends already good stewards of the earth and the environment?  What more could you do?

Many people find that being out in the natural world – enjoying the beauty of God’s creation – helps them feel closer to God.  Where do you feel closest to God?  Why?

What did you do to deepen your faith during Lent?  What can you do to extend the joy of Easter and build on the good works of Lent?

Children

“Every litter bits hurts,” they say.  And every little bit helps!  What are you doing to be a good steward of the earth?

In April and May, some of your friends (or perhaps a brother or sister) may be celebrating their First Holy Communion or Confirmation.  Choose one of them and say a prayer for him or her every time you go to Mass from now until their First Communion or Confirmation day.  You’ll be a good steward of the gift of faith – and they will be blessed!
