Reforming Our Lives
Each new year many people make resolutions to reform their lives. Promises to eat better, exercise more, spend more time with friends and family, and similar good intentions are voiced. Yet, as we all know, often such resolutions are quickly broken. John the Baptist told the people to reform their lives to prepare themselves for Jesus.
Lent is a perfect time to renew our commitment for reform, but in this case specifically reform our spiritual self. As the Lenten journey begins in earnest, we must consider what we can do to enhance our spiritual lives, whether that be greater time in prayer, service to our brothers and sisters in need, daily Mass, or spiritual reading. We must listen to John and reform our lives, but this time with the resolve to finish the race.
Prayer: Lord, help me to find ways to draw closer to You.
