Wedding Invitations 

When my future wife and I were planning our wedding reception, we met a problem. We had a limited budget and a lot of family and friends, including some who would be coming from her homeland of the Philippines. We noticed that if we invited “Joe,” we had to invite five other people who were close to him or risk offending them. The same was true of “Jane” and her list of friends. 

Our attitude was much different from the king in today’s Gospel who sends his servants out to round up even strangers for the wedding banquet. While my fiancée and I were calculating how to keep a budget yet not offend anyone, God’s generosity is all about adding more to His tab. A soul is measured not in money but in depth of love. 

Prayer: God our King, help us not to count the cost of love in our lives.
