O God, we ponder your mercy within your temple. — Psalm 48:(see 10)

Responsibility with Resources
An adage says “Responsibility without resources breeds frustration.” That’s why a good management team equips and empowers its workforce, in order that members may fulfil their responsibilities efficiently and effectively. In today’s Gospel, Jesus entrusts His disciples with a huge responsibility. They’re sent out to preach, to heal and to exorcise. But doesn’t it seem like Jesus is stinting on resources? The manpower assigned for each project is just two and each pair must travel extremely light. They’re to remain dependent on whatever hospitality is extended to them.
Yet, one thing swings the balance. The disciples are equipped and empowered by the authority of Jesus. And so, their meager material resources and humbling dependence don’t hinder their task, but rather, accentuate God’s power at work in and through their efforts.
Prayer: Lord, You are all I need for all that You call me to do.
