September 18, Saturday Weekday

I will walk in the presence of God, in the light of the living. — Psalm 56:14

Mass Readings: 1 Corinthians 15:35-37,42-49 / Luke 8:4-15

Rocky Days

Sometimes it seems as if I’m two people. One moment I’m patient and the next short-tempered. One instance I reach out to a friend in need and the next time I don’t make that call. One day I obsess over paying bills and making my mark at work, and the following day I can remind myself to do God’s will and everything else will fall into place.

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells the Parable of the Sower. The seeds fall on rocky ground, among weeds, or in rich soil. All of us struggle to be true followers of Christ. Some days His message sinks in and other days it doesn’t. But every day we can strive to be Christians whose hearts rest in the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, give me the gift of perseverance ... and patience with myself.
