I will praise your name forever, Lord. — Psalm 145:1
Mass Readings: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9 / Matthew 24:42-51
Today’s Gospel has to do with the parousia, the end of time when Jesus will return. But Our Lord’s words also apply on a smaller scale, too. Even if we die a long, long time before the Second Coming, here and now — today! — we need to stay alert if we’re going to recognize Jesus in our midst.
Where is He? Later in the book of Matthew, when describing Judgment Day, Jesus says what we did to “the least” among us, we did to Him. We helped Him or we ignored Him. And from that to-do list (feed, clothe, visit, comfort and so on) there are always one or two items we can do today. One or two people who need our help.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me better “see” You and serve You in others.
