Keep me safe, O God; you are my hope. — Psalm 16:1
Mass Readings: 1 Kings 18:20-39 / Matthew 5:17-19
I never considered myself a teacher. As a mother though, I taught my children how to pray, how to share with siblings , and thousands of other crucial lessons. Anyone who guides a young person is a teacher. Not only do we help little brains gain knowledge but, more importantly, we’re all responsible in part for shaping little souls. Jesus gives us a stern warning when He says, “Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.”
Those little ones have little eyes, too, that are always watching what we do and comparing it to what we say they should do!
Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me be a good example to young people through my words and my actions.
