Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil;for you are at my side.--Psalm 23:4
Mass readings: Daniel 13:1-9,15-17,19-30,33-62 or 13:41-62 / John 8:12-20
''Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life'' (Jn 8:12). Jesus spoke these words a short time before entering His own dark hour.
One of my own dark experiences was being molested at an early age by a member of our extended family. It wasn't until much later that I got in touch with the memory of that experience. At that time, Jesus finally began to shed light on the depth of pain, fear and shame I felt for which I had no explanation. He also lifted the hidden barriers that kept me from fully experiencing His love, forgiveness, peace and hope! Indeed, we can entrust everything to the One who willingly entered the darkness, in order to bring light to ours.
Prayer: Thank You, Light of the World, for bringing light into our darkness.
