Secret in the Storm

I know a woman at work who, no matter what's going on around her, never gets rattled. (She reminds me of Jesus in today's Gospel who remained fast asleep in the midst of the storm.) While many of us are tearing our hair out from stress, this woman seems to sail through the day. I asked her for the secret to her calm demeanor. Her response: ''I just don't take things personally.''

There was wisdom there. She has found a way to rise above the crashing waves of clashing personalities and the storms of stressful deadlines. She is a beacon of hope for me and others that we, too, can have faith and hold fast to the peace that Christ wants to give us to combat any of life's turbulence.

Prayer: Jesus, show me the way to peace and faith in the midst of life's storms.
